Sol-Gel Glasses and their Future Applications

The outline of the sol-gel method for producing glasses and related materials has been described. This method makes it possible to synthesize glasses at relatively low temperatures and also prepare new glasses which could not be prepared by conventional melting techniques. Thus, this method has a great potential in applications to the synthesis of high technology materials.
