摘要

•GC–MS analysis of the fatty acid methyl esters from R. sphaeroides is reported.•A highly-polar ionic liquid stationary phase allows separation of positional FAMEs.•The occurrence of oleic and 18:1 Me-branched FAs is established for the first time.•A biosynthetic pathway is proposed with the aid of the KEGG database.
