•The expression level of RUNX3 was increased, whereas the expression of miR-138 was decreased in CD4+ T cells from psoriasis patients.•RUNX3 was the target gene of miR-138.•Overexpression of miR-138 inhibits RUNX3 expression leading to Th1/Th2 deviation in CD4+ T cells.
