Effects of soybean variety and Bradyrhizobium strains on yield, protein content and biological nitrogen fixation under cool growing conditions in Germany

•Early maturing cultivars and efficient Bradyrhizobia products enable soybean cultivation.•High protein content for tofu can be achieved under cool growing conditions in Germany.•Significant interactions between soybean variety and inoculant were observed.
