摘要
Introduction: Little evidence highlights aspects of living conditions in adolescents living in urban and rural areas. Objective: To valuate indicators of living conditions associated to prevalence of physical activity level below the recommendations (NAFAR) and exposure to sedentary behavior (ECS) in students in urban and rural areas of Sergipe, Brazil. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional school-based study. The sample was composed of 3,992 students, aged 14-19 years. Results: The prevalence of adolescents with NAFAR was 77.5% (urban, 76%; rural, 80.0%) and ECS 46.7% (urban, 50.2%; rural, 41.2%). In urban areas, there was an association of ECS with the territory, period of study, maternal level of education, the adolescent's occupation and family income. The NAFAR was associated with residing with father and the father's work. In rural areas, ECS was associated to the period of study, the adolescent's occupation and family income. The NAFAR was associated with the adolescent's occupation. Conclusion: The results showed that the NAFAR and ECS were related to different indicators of living conditions, suggesting several interventions considering the place of residence.
