A variety of pyrazolo[4,3-b]indoles is prepared via a gold-catalyzed three-component annulation of alkynes (I) with hydrazine derivatives (II) and carbonyl compounds (III) followed by an intramolecular C-H amination of resulting dihydropyrazoles (IV).
