A bibliography is not usually read from cover to cover. That would not be the purpose of bibliographies for most people most of the time. However, this one invites the reader to do so. It entices women who have been in librarianship since the first volume was published to “dive in and make comparisons.” It entices women newer to the field to learn about where their foremothers have been and what work remains for them to do. This book is the fourth volume in a series of annotated bibliographies that provides a useful and, better yet, interesting guide to written materials regarding women in librarianship for approximately 25 years. Taken together, these are excellent resources to chart trends and show significant issues regarding the role and status of women in librarianship during a period of time that is clearly one of nearly overwhelming evolution in the age of information and its delivery. This series serves as an outline for further study in professional library literature as well as literature in related fields.
