Characteristics of the wind pressure distribution on a saddle roof
JOURNAL OF THE CHINESE INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERS(2012)
摘要
This article used wind tunnel tests to study the distribution of wind pressure on a saddle roof systematically at wind directions of 0 degrees and 90 degrees. In the case of the 0 degrees direction, wind pressure spectra are used to explain the mechanism of mean and fluctuating pressure distributions. The third- and fourth-order statistical moments of the wind pressure are employed to identify the non-Gaussian nature of the pressure time history and to construct an easy tool to localize regions with non-Gaussian features. The cause of non-Gaussian features is discussed by analysis of wind pressure spectra. In the 90 degrees case, conical vortex and the induced wind load are investigated. Some character parameters of the conical vortex are identified through contour maps of the roof surface wind pressure coefficient, including the location of the maximum mean suction for the axis of the conical vortex and the position of the maximum pressure gradient for the reattachment point. The sway of the axis of the conical vortex is analyzed, on the basis of which the qualitative and quantitative relationships between the movement of the conical vortex and the suction fluctuations on the roof are established, respectively. The non-Gaussian region on the roof exposed to conical vortices is located, and mechanisms of the non-Gaussian features related with conical vortices are also clarified.
