Population dynamics of mustard sawfly (Athalia proxima lugens Klug.), leafminer (Chromatomyia horticola Gaureau) and painted bug (Bagrada cruciferarum Krikaldy) on different varieties of Brassica oilseed crop

Population fluctuation of important insect pests, viz., mustard sawfly, Athalia proxima lugens Klug.; leaf miner, Chromatomyla hortieola Gaureau; and painted bug, Bagrada cruciferarum Kirkaldy was studied on eight varieties belonging to Brassica species, viz., Brassiea juncea L. (Varuna, Kranti, RW 2.2); B. campestris var. yellow sarson (YST-t5t, NDYS-9); B. campestris var. brown sarson (BSH-I); B. napus (GSB-7027); and B. carinata (DLC-I) was studied during rabi in two crop seasons. RW 2–2 was free from mustard sawlfly, leaf miner and painted bug. Relatively more population of sawfly was recorded on varieties of B. campestris than on B. Juneea. Maximum Incidence of leaf miner and painted bug was observed on DLC-I of B. carinata and GSB-7027 of B. napus.
