Response of cowpea genotypes to seed inoculation of biofertilizers

A biofertilizer trial in cowpea was carried out to evaluate the response of cowpea cultivars to inoculation with various biofertilizers. Among the genotypes, cv. CP-4 showed maximum plant height, nodules/plant and pod yield. It also exhibited the maximum dry matter portioning in pods. PSB (Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria) had the most significant effect on growth and yield parameters of cowpea. As far as interaction is concerned, the maximum pod yield was obtained when CP-4 was inoculated either with PSB or Azospirillum.
