Transference Of Compressed Audio Through Sms Using Lzw Algorithm

This paper presents a method of transferring voice through SMS over GSM network using LZW lossless compression. Generally, SMS is not used to transfer voice because it only supports the text based services. Overall process is initiated by converting voice into characters; afterwards LZW compression is applied and set those characters as a payload text of SMS. Moreover we also compared the efficiency of LZW compression algorithm with the voice transferring method. Our result clearly shows that LZW work very well with the compression ratio up to 35%-50% averagely. For testing the proposed methodology, we develop an application using J2ME platform.
