Opportunities and challenges of the knowledge management approach to e-learning: A case study in Rajiv Gandhi School of E-learning in Maharashtra state

There has been a real revolution in the field of higher education in the recent decade with the inclusion of educational technology to improve the delivery and quality of education being school students in a classroom environment. Another research question was to identify educational technologies which would address the main challenges faced. An field survey questionnaire was used to reveal the students views. Challenges faced by students in the learning environment include different learning styles of students which face to face interaction may not always deal with effectively. Moreover, passive learning by students whereby they do not engage in critical analysis of information given to them as well as their reluctance to interact and ask questions in large followers have been found to be other challenges faced by other students. As a solution e-learning strategies are proposed for an online teaching and learning environment and comprising components such as stakeholders, resource materials, activities, monitoring and feedback. This research paper shows that adopting education technologies is an asset for an institution as they address the challenges encountered in face to face environment. However, such an initiative cannot be taken in a vacuum. Factors such as training, infrastructural and technological improvements should also be taken into account during implementation process. This would ensure the optimum use of such facilities for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.
