Dynamic Integration of Medical Ontologies in Large Scale

The paper presents a novel ontology lifecycle scenario that explicitly takes the dynamics and data-intensiveness of the medical application domains into account. Changing and growing knowledge is handled by semi-automatic incorpora- tion of ontology learning results into a collaborative onto- logy development framework. This integration bases mainly on automatic negotiation of agreed alignments, inconsisten- cy resolution, ontology versioning system and support of natural language generation tools, which alleviate the end- user effort in the incorporation of new knowledge.
