Fatigue Trunnion Fracture of Femoral Stem after Total Hip Arthroplasty with Recurrent Dislocation: A Case Report
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery Taiwan(2009)
摘要
Femoral component fracture is an infrequent complication after total hip arthroplasty. The most common factors in failure include alloy manufacture, femoral component design, and cementing technique. In this article we present a rare case of fatigue fracture of a well-fixed, cementless, cobalt-chromium femoral stem at the junction of the prosthetic neck and ball head after repeated dislocations. Revision surgery was performed using a prosthesis with a largerdiameter femoral head. This case shows that dislocation of the hip and closed reduction may predispose the prosthesis to fatigue failure.
