摘要
Heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) has been widely touted as a leading candidate for enabling the next generation of ultra-high density data storage [1]. To fully assess the advantage and potential of HAMR technology and to understand the physics of the HAMR recording process, extensive Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch (LLB) equation-based micromagnetic modeling has been conducted [2]. Fundamental recording behavior and system performance dependencies have been simulated [3]. In the current work, we present and discuss several comparative observations between HAMR recording experiments and micromagnetic modeling, and show qualitative agreement between HAMR recording measurements and behavior predicted by micromagnetic simulations. Our experimental results that quantify the primary media noise mechanisms in HAMR recording corroborate the modeling predictions.
