Does Applying Previously Acquired Basic Science Knowledge in Clinical Context Lead to Better Results on Repeated Test Items?

To what extent do medical undergraduate students retain basic science knowledge after they learned about its clinical application 6–8 weeks later? To explore this, items of the basic science exams were repeated in the clinically oriented exam. Generally, results on these test items improved, but major differences were observed per item.
