Progress of Li4Ti5O12 anode material for lithium ion batteries

In the past decades, Lithium ion batteries have drawn great attention due to the growing demands of electronic and information industries. Li4Ti5O12 is considered as a promising anode material for Lithium ion batteries because of many advantages, including zero strain property, superior cycling stability, and outstanding safety. However, large scale applications of Li4Ti5O12 are still hindered by some drawbacks including its low Li+ diffusion coefficient and poor electronic conductivity. In order to overcome these obstacles, many methods have been investigated, such as nanoscaling, coating with other materials, doping with cations and anions, binder modification, and so on. This review focuses on the recent progress of Li4Ti5O12 for Lithium ion batteries.
