摘要
Small balloons of 3 to 10 000m(3) volume together with light telemetry packages and simplified operational procedures have been developed for frequent and relatively low cost measurements in the upper troposphere and the lower stratosphere. In such arrangement, they have allowed to carry a number of studies related to transport, microphysics and chemistry by the simultaneous flights of a variety of lightweight instruments. Because of their flexible operations, they are also ideal for validating the remote measurements of satellite instruments such as ILAS-ADEOS, GOME-ERS2 and FOAM-SPOT in the past as well as ODIN, SAGE III and ENVISAT in the future, when co-location is essential.
