New eunicellin-derived diterpenoids from a Taiwanese soft coral Klyxum molle

Continuous chemical investigation of the soft coral Klyxum molle resulted in the isolation of six new eunicellin-derived diterpenoids, klymollins Y (1), Z (2), and klyxumollins A–D (3–6), together with two known compounds (7 and 8). The planar structures and relative configurations of these new compounds were elucidated by MS, 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Klyxumollins C (5) represents the first 6,7-secoeunicellin possessing an ester group at C-6 and 6 is the first eunicellin comprising with an aromatic ether linkage. Anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic activities of the isolates were reported.
