Endometriosis /Pelvic Pain Syndromes and Postural Tachycardia Syndrome: What is the Association and Treatment Implications?

Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a common autonomic condition of orthostatic intolerance causing fatigue, dizziness, and interrupting activities of daily living in previously healthy adolescents. Additionally, patients may complain of a variety of other somatic complaints including migraine, nausea, abdominal pain or widespread pain. Endometriosis is a well known chronic condition that may lead to severe dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain. Although the literature has not shown a definite link between POTS and endometriosis given the link to other pain syndromes, an association between the two should be considered.
