摘要
Summary From the standpoint of a seismic interpreter, one of the main topics of in terest is vertical resolution. We want to improve it by acquisition, processing, reprocessing, advanced imaging or simply by postprocessing, and we all tend to conclude that frequency enhancement leads to the desired vertical resolution improvement. Based on our experience dealing with frequency enhancement tests with marine seismic data, and canonical wedge model examples to analyze simple tuning effects, we argue that fast and easy ways of doing postprocessing frequency enhancement do not necessarily imply, much less guarantee vertical resolution improvement.
