Creep-age forming AA2219 plates with different stiffener designs and pre-form age conditions: Experimental and finite element studies

•Creep-age forming of AA2219 stiffened plates was studied both experimentally and numerically.•A novel forming technique was used to produce defect-free formed parts with smooth curvature.•Pre-form age condition affects the peak σe, stress relaxed, and springback.•Bending stiffeners acts as stress shields for the base plates during creep-age forming.
