Euro-ccad: Differing conventional atherosclerosis risk factors for coronary calcification depending on degree of luminal stenosis

Objectives: Conventional atherosclerosis risk factors are well established precursors for the development of acute coronary syndromes, although their individual and cumulative relationship with coronary stenosis and calcification remains not fully determined. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of conventional risk factors; hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, family history and smoking on the severity of coronary artery calcification (CAC) and significant (>50%) luminal stenosis in 6,300 symptomatic patients from Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and USA.
