Fragmented coronoid process in the dog is the most common manifestation of elbow dysplasia. In addition, it is the most common cause of osteoarthritis in the elbow of large-breed dogs. This article reviews relevant elbow anatomy and the diagnosis and pathogenesis of fragmented coronoid process. Part II will focus on current treatment strategies and prognosis.
