Influence of fineness on hydration kinetics of supersulfated cement

•The hydration process of SSC is accelerated with the increase of its fineness.•We get hydration kinetics parameters of SSC through the Krstulovic–Dabic model.•Hydration process can be divided into three periods, i.e. NG, I and D process.•Elevated fineness of SSC can shorten NG and I while prolong D process gradually.•The highest total heat emission of SSC is still lower than that of ordinary Portland cement.
