The effects of metal ion PCR inhibitors on results obtained with the Quantifiler® Human DNA Quantification Kit

•DNA samples were treated with Al, Ca, Cu, Fe, Ni, and Pb.•Quantification was performed using the Quantifiler® Human DNA Quantification Kit.•The accuracy of human DNA quantification and inhibitor detection was assessed.•Al, Fe, and Pb-treatment yielded impaired human results before detection by IPC.•If possible inhibition, avoid drawing conclusions about sample from quantification.
