Long-term effects of clear-cutting on epigaeic beetle assemblages in boreal forests

•We surveyed the epigaeic beetle assemblage in young, middle aged and mature stands.•Young stands had the lowest species richness and abundance.•Assemblage composition of epigaeic beetles differed among stand types.•Twenty-five percent of the species were unique to mature stands.•Epigaeic beetles are affected by management history.
