摘要

•A triplex realtime PCR for typing of equine pegiviruses (EPgV) was established.•High loads of NPHV and EPgV RNA were present in commercial equine pooled sera.•Theiler’s disease associated virus was found in sera from Europe and South America.•Unlike as for NPHV, no increased EPgV prevalence was observed in Thoroughbreds.•Testing of raw sera/products should be considered to proof NPHV and EPgV absence.
