Hsa-miR-1246 and hsa-miR-1290 are associated with stemness and invasiveness of non-small cell lung cancer

•We isolated sphere-forming non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells with stem cell characteristics in serum free media.•There was aberrant cancer stem cell (CSC)-associated microRNA expression in sphere-forming NSCLC cells.•Inhibition of CSC-associated microRNAs decreased invasion and stemness of NSCLC.
