摘要
•Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is common in obese as well as nonobese patients.•Obese patients with T2DM undergoing bariatric surgery for weight loss show improved glycemic control.•Different bariatric surgeries for obese patients with T2DM have different outcomes in weight loss and remission rates of T2DM.•The effects of bariatric surgery in nonobese patients with T2DM on weight loss and glucose homeostasis continue to be investigated.•Other antiobesity interventions, such as endoscopic duodenal-jejunal bypass liner with a barrier effect from duodenal exclusion, prevent detrimental metabolic effects.
