摘要
•Demonstrated methodologies to quantify the full six degrees-of-freedom of the rigid body motion of the malleus–incus complex (MIC).•The MIC motion is defined by a predominant hinged rotational component below 1.5 kHz.•The rotation about the inferior-superior direction, or “twisting motion”, in the malleus has larger magnitudes than in the incus above 3 kHz.•While the magnitude of the transfer function of the MIC decreases with frequency, its spatio-temporal complexity increases significantly.
