Screening of inhibitors of glycogen synthase kinase-3β from traditional Chinese medicines using enzyme-immobilized magnetic beads combined with high-performance liquid chromatography.

•A screening method using GSK-3β-immobilized MBs coupled with HPLC-UV was developed.•This method was used to screen the inhibitory activity of extracts of 15 TCMs.•A new inhibitor of GSK-3β, fukugetin, was found from Garcinia xanthochymus.•Fukugetin was a non-ATP competitive inhibitor and its IC50 was 3.18±0.07μM.
