A not cytotoxic nickel concentration alters the expression of neuronal differentiation markers in NT2 cells.

摘要
•We investigated whether NT2 cells neuronal differentiation was affected by nickel.•Nickel (10μM) increased the expression of differentiation markers MAP2 and NCAM.•Nickel activated the AKT/PKB kinase pathway and increased HIF-1a expression/accumulation.•Tyrosine hydroxylase mRNA was unchanged, but the protein was lower in Ni-treated NT2 cells.•The results suggest that nickel may increase vulnerability to neuro-psychopathology.
