Inducible expression of enhanced green fluorescent protein by interleukin-1α, interleukin-1β and Toll-like receptor 2 promoters in goat mammary epithelial cells in response to bacterial challenges.

•Bacteria-inducible expression activity of interleukin-1α, interleukin-1β and Toll-like receptor 2 promoters was evaluated.•Bacteria-inducible promoters were able to regulate reporter gene expression in response to bacterial challenges.•The three constructed bacteria-inducible promoters showed different activities.•This bacteria-inducible strategy could be an approach to produce mastitis-resistant animals.
