Simultaneous monitoring of CMV and BKV by quantitative PCR in renal transplant recipients.

•The quantitative PCR was used to simultaneously detect BKV and CMV DNA.•Standard subjects based on the conservative sequences of BKV and CMV.•The sensitivity of the Q-PCR assay to detect BKV or CMV DNA reached 5×103copies/mL.•Precision of the assay was acceptable.•BKV or CMV DNA positivity was significantly associated with high concentrations of TAC.
