Blood genomic profiling in extracranial- and intracranial atherosclerosis in ischemic stroke patients.

•Extracranial- (ECAS) and intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAS) may have different pathogenesis.•We performed blood genomic profiling between stroke patients with ECAS and those with ICAS.•ECAS showed prominent genomic alteration related to immune response compared to ICAS.•Plasma resistin level is elevated in stroke patients with ECAS.
