MR imaging-guided vacuum-assisted breast biopsy: reduction of false-negative biopsies by short-term control MRI 24-48 h after biopsy.

•Some suspicious breast lesions are only seen on MRI.•They can be biopsied by a MRI-guided vacuum-assisted biopsy system.•Inadequate sampling causes some false-negative biopsies.•We evaluate an additional control MRI 24 to 48 hours after biopsy.•A reduced rate of the false-negative biopsies was found.
