•Seahorse extracts reduced the prostate index and increased penile NOS activity.•Seahorse extracts decreased ACP activity and prostatic PCNA and bFGF expression.•Seahorse extracts restored sperm viability and motility.•Seahorse extracts have potential for treating BPH with minimal side effects.
