Flavin-containing monooxygenase, a new clue of pathological proteins in the rotenone model of parkinsonism.

•We generated rotenone model in primary midbrain dopaminergic neurons.•We examined the relationship between FMO, parkin and neuron apoptosis.•FMO and parkin was decreased in rotenone model, accompanied by caspase 3 activation.•FMO dysfunction was a reason for the apoptosis of DA neurons in rotenone model.•Parkin function was compromised in neuro-pathological states.
