•We choose mandarin voles as model animal in present experiment.•Distribution of androgen receptor is different between sexual satiety and motivation.•Testosterone levels in brain are different between sexual satiety and motivation.•The serum levels of androgens are unchanged by ELISA in all experimental groups.
