During cell division of the intracellular apicomplexan parasite Toxoplasma gondii, the formation of emergent daughter buds is dependent on the apical microtubules and the inner-membrane complex (IMC). However, the mechanism by which cell division is coordinated with mitosis and organelle segregation is not well understood.
