摘要
Today, hydrogen is mainly produced from natural gas, crude oil and coal. Both in research and in application-oriented development, intensive work is being carried out on new processes for the production and transportation of regeneratively produced hydrogen. For the chemical industry, the value chains will change drastically on the way to the desired climate neutrality. However, this study shows that the demand for hydrogen will only increase considerably in the early stages of the value chain in the future chemical industry. Hydrogen demand will not change significantly in the refinement of intermediate products, assuming that the current intermediate products of the industrial organic industry are largely retained. For a successful transformation of the German chemical industry, it would be therefore particularly important to find an optimal balance between the import of regeneratively produced intermediates and the supply of renewable hydrogen for the refinement stages leading to the final products.
