Proposing a perceived ease of use factors taxonomy for information system use

This study is motivated by very little research done in human computer interaction (HCl) to identify and organize all usability factors relating to perceived ease of use in the context of information processing. The challenge of addressing this issue becomes greater by taking user task familiarity into account. Until HCI professionals reach some degree of concurrence regarding which usability factors constitute the behavioural measures, there is a risk that common users' perceptions may involve different understanding of behavioural measures. Therefore, this study presents a taxonomy that organises usability factors specific to perceived ease of use from the perspectives of performing both familiar and unfamiliar tasks. It also reports on a quantitative approach to content validity of various behavioural measures specific to perceived ease of use involving perceptions of common users of Web-based information systems.
