Increase of CD25 expression on bovine neutrophils correlates with disease severity in post-partum and early lactating dairy cows.

•CD25 was determined on PMN of cows with post-partum diseases or healthy controls.•We found CD25 to be expressed on the surface of bovine PMN.•The expression (mean fluorescence intensity, MFI) correlated with disease severity.•MFI values of CD25+ PMN were highly discriminative for all disease stages.•We suggest CD25 on bovine PMN as a potential biomarker for inflammations in cattle.
