In-beam γ spectroscopy of the odd-Z nucleus 139Pm

High-spin states in Pm-139 are investigated via the Cd-116(Al-27, 4n)Pm-139 fusion-evaporation reaction at a beam energy of 120 MeV. The previously reported level scheme has been modified because of identifications of some linking and doublet transitions. The revised yrast pi h(11/2) band obviously undergoes pi h(11/2) -> pi(h(11/2))(3) -> pi(h(11/2))(3)circle times nu(h(11/2))(-2) band crossings at (h) over bar omega = 0.45 and 0.39 MeV. Two negative-parity dipole bands have been assigned as pi h(11/2)circle times nu(h(11/2))(2) and pi h(11/2)circle times nu(h(11/2)) (4) configurations, respectively, and can be considered as examples of magnetic rotational bands.
