Velocity distribution of a flow cell for SPR array detection

The uniformity of velocity distribution in a flow cell is important for high-precision surface plasmon resonance(SPR) array detection.Numerical simulation was performed to analyze the influence of different field angles on the flow field,with a flow cell designed and fabricated using polydimethylsiloxane.The velocities in specific sections in the flow cell were measured using the micro particle image velocimetry technology.Theoretical and experimental results show that the fluid in the flow cell is laminar,with the largest uniform area found with the angle of 135°,which benefits high throughput array detection.The differences between theoretical analyses and experimental results are mainly caused by the mismachining tolerance.The results can be adopted to conduct the design and fabrication of flow cells for high-precision SPR array detection.
