A Security Protocol For Mac Layer In Cognitive Radio Networks

In this paper, we discussed the characteristics of MAC protocols in distributed cognitive radio networks. We analyzed the existing security issues in MAC layer, especially DoS attacks, and proposed a new form of DoS for MAC layer. Since traditional authentication methods cannot arrest DoS attacks in cognitive radio networks, we designed a door-curtain authentication and a security channel switch scheme to prevent the proposed security protocol from DoS attacks and to continue the data transmission discontinued before. The simulation results show that the proposed security protocol can efficiently prevent DoS attacks in MAC layer of cognitive radio networks.
