Simultaneous presentation of carcinoma of prostate and carcinoma of bladder(4 cases report)

Objective: To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of simultaneous presentation of prostate cancer and carcinoma of bladder. Methods: In 156 patients with prostate cancer, 4 of them who suffered from transitional cell carcinoma(TCC) of bladder simultaneously were analyzed. Results: These 4 patients of prostate cancer coexisting with TCC of bladder were diagnosed by ultrasound, urinalysis and cystoscopy. Two of them were performed transurethral resection of bladder cancer (TURB) and bilateral orchiectomy, 1 received TURB and pharmaceutical castration, 1 received TURB and radical prostatectomy. In travesical instilling therapy were performed for all postoperatively. Followed up for 12-36 months, only one patient recurred with TCC of bladder and received TURP again. Conclusion: Patients of prostate cancer with hematuria, irritative voiding symptom, prostatectomy should be conducted cystoscopy to exclude coexisting TCC of bladder.
