Case study on application of high strength steel in building structure

Based on the statistic analysis for design strength of high strength steel, a case study was performed. The objective is a super high-rise office building. Both ordinary steel and high strength steel are supposed to be used respectively, under the same load condition by Chinese design specification, and the same structural performance which is expected. This paper presents the study results. The design method and analysis process are introduced. The comparison shows the advantages of high strength steel, and also indicates some issues to be paid attention to when high strength steel is adopted in the super high-rise office building.
