Practice and recognition of electric arc furnace steelmaking technology (1)

The trend of electric arc furnace steelmaking technology development in the recent 20 years is introduced in four aspects including improvement of power supply system, multiplication of energy source, iron bearing raw materials, and improvement in environment protection. On the basis of the practices and recognitions at Baosteel, some technical points of DC furnace are discussed including power quality, electrode consumption and bottom electrode technology. Furthermore, the reason why the construction of DC furnaces in the world has been decreased is analyzed.
